Conditions
Conditions in which Linaclotide needs care, as documented in this source.
Intestinal Obstruction
MajorThe use of linaclotide is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected mechanical gastrointestinal obstruction. Because linaclotide accelerates gastrointestinal transit, it can exacerbate a blockage.

Diarrhea
ModerateThe use of linaclotide may cause diarrhea that might be associated with dizziness, syncope, hypotension and electrolyte abnormalities (hypokalemia and hyponatremia). It is recommended to withhold dosing and rehydrate patients if severe diarrhea occurs. Care should be exercised when prescribing this agent to patients at risk of diarrhea or dehydration.
